Will You Receive Your Rivian R1T Electric Pickup Truck By 2022/2023? Here is What You Can Expect
Rivian R1T EV Pickup Teased With Yakima Bed Tent

Rivian's R1T electric pickup truck has been a highly anticipated vehicle since its announcement. With the 21-inch road tires and off-road protection package, it is sure to be an attractive option for many car enthusiasts. But with so many reservations already placed, what are the chances of seeing this truck before the end of 2022?

It is difficult to say as normal customers are not receiving vehicles yet. Rivian employees (EEs) have started receiving their trucks in limited numbers. This could be seen as a positive thing as they can test out the real world performance under normal driving conditions and resolve any issues that may arise. The big mystery is whether or not Rivian will be able to keep up with their build dates. It is possible that you could get your truck by the end of 2022, but there is no guarantee.

The current number of reservations stands at over 70,000, making it unlikely that anyone who just put in an order will receive theirs by the end of 2022. Even those who ordered 3+ years ago might not see their vehicles until 2023. Currently, production rate is around 200 per week which means it may take some time before everyone gets their orders fulfilled.

It is important to remember that patience is key when ordering new vehicles these days. Although Tesla Model 3 owners were able to place orders two years out and still received them within months, Rivian’s timeline may differ due to the sheer number of orders they have received. If you just placed your reservation, you should expect delivery sometime in 2024 depending on where you live.

Rivian has been working hard to make sure that their vehicles are up to the highest standards. They have already released several software updates and made improvements on the interior of the truck. It is clear that they want customers to be satisfied with their purchase, so it may take some time before everyone gets theirs.

In conclusion, if you just placed your order for a Rivian R1T electric pickup truck, don’t expect delivery until 2024 at best. The sheer number of reservations makes it unlikely anyone who just put in an order will receive theirs by 2022 or even 2023. However, Rivian is doing everything they can to ensure customer satisfaction and quality control which means we should all be able to enjoy our trucks soon enough!

What are my chances of getting a 2020 Tesla Model 3 Performance with FSD before the end of 2022?

It is hard to say as normal "retail" customers are not receiving vehicles now. It seems only Rivian EEs (beta testers) are getting them. The big mystery is this...can Rivian hold to their build dates, which anyone on this forum will tell you is suspect already. So I could say you could get a truck by the end of 2022, but Rivian may slip that date again. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but it's hard to believe you actually think you might have your truck this year. Your chances of seeing your truck before the end of 2023 are virtually nil and they HOPE to have all preorders out by end of 2023.

What is the current number of reservations?

The last number I saw, two months ago, was over 70,000. If you just placed the order now, I don't think there's any chance you'll get it in 2022 because that would require Rivian to far exceed their estimated 2022 production.

Is geographic location important when it comes to delivery expectations?

Yes, geographic location does matter when it comes to delivery expectations. I received an email from Rivian that my R1s would be delivered “End of 2023” as I am in the Florida Panhandle and geographic location does matter when it comes to delivery expectations.

How long did people wait for their Model 3?

People placed orders on Model 3 two years out and waited obviously because production wasn’t ramped up. I placed mine and was built in 2 months, obviously because they had ramped up. So I got mine a few months after others that waited two years.

Will Rivian make it by then?

The other risk is Rivian may not even make it by then. They have to get through 71,000+ other vehicles before they get to you. Currently, they're at around 200 per week production rate. It's gonna be a while. Sorry to rain on the parade. Have to be patient these days with the new world we live in, where you have order vehicles 3 years before you get them!
