Unlocking the Benefits of AI-Assisted Transportation with the Rivian R1T EV | Range, Tires & Charging Considerations

Assisted Intelligence is the future of transportation and it will be a major factor in reducing daily commute miles. Autonomous vehicles are being tested now and soon they'll be available to the public. They will make driving safer, reduce traffic congestion, and improve fuel efficiency. AI-assisted navigation systems can help drivers optimize their routes for maximum efficiency, saving time and money.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming increasingly popular as more people become aware of their environmental benefits. EVs have a lower carbon footprint than gasoline-powered cars and require less maintenance. Additionally, many cities are offering incentives to encourage people to switch to electric vehicles. With advancements in battery technology, EVs now offer long ranges that can accommodate even the longest commutes.

The Rivian R1T is one such EV that offers plenty of range for those who need to cover 125 - 150 miles per day. It has an impressive 314 mile range with its large pack option, so you won't have to worry about running out of juice on your way home or while running errands after work. The Rivian also features fast charging capabilities, so you can quickly top up your battery when needed. Plus, it comes with an 8 year/175000 mile warranty on its battery, giving you peace of mind that your car will last for years to come.

When considering an EV for your daily commute, take into account not only the range but also the type of tires you plan to use. The Rivian's 20" AT tires may not be ideal for long distance commuting due to their higher rolling resistance compared to road tires. If you're looking for something more efficient and comfortable for your daily drive, consider opting for 21" road tires instead.

Ultimately, whether or not an EV like the Rivian R1T is suitable for your daily commute depends on how much range you need and where you charge it. If you have access to charging at both home and work, then this could be a great option for you. However if you don't have access to charging at work or if your commute exceeds 150 miles per day, then other solutions such as hybrids may be better suited for your needs.

Who here is like me in commuting between 125 - 150ish miles in a given day?

If you have a charger at your work, you should be fine. Otherwise, it may be pushing it close to the battery's range. Consider other EV options with plenty of range for that sort of commute.

What is the issue driving 120-150mi/day on a 314mi range battery?

Unless you're missing something, there shouldn't be an issue. Even during the worst Nor'easter blizzard, you won't see a 50% range reduction. You also have an 8yr 175,000mi warranty on the battery too.

What tires are recommended for my commute?

21" Road tires should be used 90% of the time and 20" AT's on aftermarket wheels for any fun weekend getaways.

Is a full EV suitable for my commute?

It depends on your situation. If one is everyday doing 150 miles or over, you might look at a hybrid like the upcoming 2023 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid instead. Long haul trucking will remain diesel for at least the next 30 years.

What are the benefits of an EV for my commute?

An EV will save you money in fuel costs and maintenance. It also has a much lower environmental impact than a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle. Additionally, EVs have better acceleration and handling due to their instant torque.

What other options do I have for my commute?

You could consider a hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicle. These vehicles combine the efficiency of an electric motor with the range of a gasoline engine. They are great for long commutes as they can switch between electric and gasoline power depending on your needs. You could also look into carpooling or public transportation if available in your area.
