Try Out the Rivian R1T with a First Mile Test Drive - Experience Unmatched Acceleration & Comfort!
Rivian's First Mile test drive events are a great way to experience the R1T in person. Recently, one customer booked their spot and was excited to see the truck for the first time. They were looking forward to experiencing all of its features such as acceleration, infotainment, gear tunnel size, tonneau, and gear guard. After booking their slot, they received confirmation that they would be able to take the test drive on Thursday 7 at 1:00 PM.
The customer had previously owned a Lexus GS350 but decided to upgrade to an R1T with an extra large battery, Canyon Red with Black interior, 22" Black Wheels. The customer was most interested in testing out the acceleration and other bells and whistles compared to their previous vehicle.
After taking the test drive, the customer reported back that it was "completely AWESOME!" They found it very well built and solid, with excellent acceleration on the tollway. On sport mode they could feel the suspension and steering response tighten up. Bumpy roads near University and Inwood were smooth and comfortable in the R1T.
The customer also commented on the exterior color being better than expected, though they ultimately opted for El Cap for their order. Their wife suggested that the truck should lower itself to the lowest setting based on your key profile to get in or out. One area of concern was lack of a roof shade, which caused some heat coming from the roof even when it was only 67F outside.
Overall, customers have been pleased with their First Mile experiences so far. It's a great way to get hands-on with the R1T before delivery and learn more about its features. With hot temperatures in Texas, however, it is important to consider solutions for keeping cool inside the cabin without relying solely on air conditioning.

Was supposed to be Oct-Dec 2022.
What vehicle did you have before the Rivian R1T?
Coming from a bare bones Ridgeline.
Did you consider any other vehicles or just went right for the Rivian you reserved?
Thought about getting a newer Lexus but have been all in on the Rivian for 2+ years.
Where is the first mile test drive happening?
They bring the R1T to your home for you to take a look at the truck and go for a test drive.
What do you think of the silver exterior?
I liked the sliver more than I thought I would but I'm sticking with the El Cap for my order.
Is there an issue with the roof shade?
There's a lack of a roof shade and it can get hot inside when it's sunny outside.
Is there an option to opt out of glass or sunroofs?
Looks like the R1s will not give us that option. It's going to be an issue in TX. I hope someone comes up with a solution.
What about the interior?
The interior is really nice. It's a great blend of modern and classic. The seats are comfortable and the materials feel premium. The infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use.
