Rivian News: Shortening Delivery Window by Changing Configuration From Max Pack To Extended Battery
Rivian Postpones Deliveries Of Trucks With The Largest Battery Until 2024

After some major disappointing news from Rivian concerning a price increase and predicted delivery of second half of 2023, many customers were ready to cancel their orders. However, on April 29th an email was sent out stating that production in the near term would focus on the Adventure Package with either Black Mountain or Forest Edge interior and Extended Battery. This gave customers an opportunity to shorten their delivery window by changing their configuration from Max Pack to Extended Battery.

This decision made sense for those who plan to do infrequent RV hauling as they wouldn't need the extra mileage provided by the Max Pack and would be hauling around extra weight otherwise. Customers should try again with customer service as when Rivian reached out to confirm configurations, they were clear that if changed to match current production, customers would get a spot in line corresponding to their reservation number.

For one customer, it took four weeks after changing the interior color and selecting Extended Battery instead of Max Pack before hearing back. Another customer traded in a 2006 Nissan Titan pick up and is expecting his R1T on Wednesday. It seems like Rivian has been busy filling orders for people who ordered 1-2 years after original pre-order holders just because that's what they are producing right now.

It appears that Rivian has been matching available production to orders that closely match and Victerry was able to reduce his delivery time by doing exactly the same thing - changing his configuration from Max Pack. The same can be done by other customers too, however they must change to what is being produced and wait. When customers call and ask about this, they will be told that Rivian will take into consideration when they reserved the truck and they obviously did.
