Rivian Announces Reconfiguration Options, New Adventure Package & Commitment to Sustainable Mobility

Rivian recently sent out a letter informing customers of the ability to reconfigure their preordered vehicles and maintain pre-March 1 pricing. This includes swapping between R1T and R1S models, as well as Rivian accessories being available at pre-March 1 pricing. Customers who wish to configure post-March 1 options will be subject to new pricing. The terms and details can be found in the customer agreement.
The letter also raises questions about trading four motors for two motors, or mid range battery packs for larger ones. It remains to be seen what the capacity of the "Longer Range" battery pack that is under development for the R1S will be, and how much it will cost. While regen does not add measurable range in normal driving, it does make an enormous difference if you're in hilly terrain, allowing drivers to capture energy they would otherwise lose to friction braking. Two motors vs four motors makes no difference in theory and in practice two motors are likely more efficient.
Rivian also announced that they are working on a new "Adventure Package" for the R1T and R1S. This package will include an air suspension, off-road tires, skid plates, rock sliders and other features designed to make it easier to take your vehicle off road. It is unclear how much this package will cost or when it will be available but Rivian has stated that more details about the Adventure Package should be released soon.
The letter also mentions Rivian's plans for over-the-air updates which would allow customers to upgrade their vehicles with new software without having to visit a service center. Over-the-air updates have become increasingly popular in recent years as automakers look for ways to improve customer experience while reducing costs associated with servicing vehicles at dealerships or service centers.
Finally, Rivian mentioned its commitment towards sustainability by stating that all of its products are made from recycled materials whenever possible and powered by renewable energy sources such as solar power wherever feasible. The company is committed not only towards making electric cars but also creating sustainable solutions across all aspects of their business operations including manufacturing processes and supply chain management practices so as reduce environmental impact caused due emissions from traditional combustion engine vehicles .
Overall , these announcements show just how serious Rivian is about delivering on its promise of providing customers with an amazing driving experience while being mindful of our environment . We can't wait until we get behind the wheel!
