Improve Acceleration for Your 2018 Model 3 Tesla with the Acceleration Boost Package

Improve Acceleration for Your 2018 Model 3 Tesla with the Acceleration Boost Package
Tesla Acceleration Boost: A Complete Guide

Acceleration Improvement (AI) is a software update that was released by Tesla in 2018 and 2019. This AI update improved the acceleration of some Model 3 vehicles, including the LR RWD version. The improvements were small, but noticeable. However, these updates are not to be confused with the Acceleration Boost package, which was introduced in December 2019 for an additional cost. The Acceleration Boost package provides a much more substantial improvement in acceleration than the AI updates did.

For those who purchased their 2018 M3 before December 2019, they can still purchase the Acceleration Boost package for an additional fee. This package will provide significant improvements in acceleration compared to the original performance of the car prior to purchasing the package. It should be noted that this package does not come bundled with FSD or HW3 upgrades, so it must be purchased separately.

Overall, if you have a 2018 M3 and want to improve its acceleration, then you may want to consider purchasing the Acceleration Boost package from Tesla. Although it comes at an additional cost, it offers a substantial improvement in acceleration over what was available previously. The Acceleration Boost package is not the only way to improve acceleration on a 2018 M3. There are other options available, such as aftermarket performance parts and tuning services. These can provide significant improvements in acceleration, but they come at an additional cost and may require more technical knowledge than the Acceleration Boost package does.

It should also be noted that some owners have reported experiencing a decrease in their car’s range after installing the Acceleration Boost package or any other performance upgrades. This could be due to increased power consumption from these modifications, so it is important to keep this in mind when considering purchasing any of these packages or services for your vehicle.

Finally, if you want to maximize your car’s potential for improved acceleration without sacrificing its range too much then you may want to consider investing in both the AI update and the Acceleration Boost package together. This combination will give you maximum gains with minimal losses in terms of range loss due to increased power consumption from either upgrade alone.

I added FSD beta to my 2018 M3 during the fire sale. Included FSD, HW3, and acceleration boost. Now my car no longer lists having acceleration boost and the app says that I can add it under software upgrades. Has anyone else seen this?

The fire sale on FSD only lasted a few months in the beginning of 2019. HW 3 computer upgrade from HW 2.5 is included for anybody that buys/bought FSD no matter the date or price. Acceleration Boost did not exist until December of 2019, and there has never been any bundles. If you have the invoice (it's available on you Tesla account) for when you purchased the Acceleration Boost you can get Tesla to re-add it.

I bought Enhanced Autopilot with the M3 in 2018. I added HW3 and FSD for $2000 when it was offered for a few days. I will check my Service Center records to verify if it included the power boost.

The $2000 FSD upgrade did not include Acceleration Boost. There were two small acceleration improvements made available through regular updates, but they were tiny improvements to horsepower (like 0.1 second improvement in 0-60 times). The $2000 Acceleration Boost is available to the 2018 M3, however.

Did the 2018 Model 3 ever have an acceleration boost?

No, the 2018 Model 3 never had an acceleration boost. That was made available for the Model Y in December 2019. The 2018 Model 3 did have two small acceleration improvements made available through regular updates, but they were tiny improvements to horsepower (like 0.1 second improvement in 0-60 times).

Is there any way to get the acceleration boost for my 2018 M3?

Yes, you can purchase the Acceleration Boost upgrade for your 2018 M3. It is available on Tesla's website and in the Service Center. You will need to provide proof of purchase, such as an invoice or receipt, to get the upgrade. Additionally, if you purchased FSD during the fire sale, you may be eligible for a discount on the Acceleration Boost upgrade.
