Exploring Options for Avoiding Long Wait Times in the UK Market for BMW IX Models
BMW iX Review 2022 | heycar

The UK market has been facing delays in the build and delivery times of their IX 40s. People have been ordering them since mid-August 2022, with some dealers providing a two month wait time assurance. However, other customers have experienced longer lead times, with one customer having to wait nine weeks for their order. The dealer did not know when delivery would be, which was concerning for many customers.

Another customer had ordered an M60 and got a February 23rd build slot with delivery expected March/April. For another customer who had ordered an M50 in early December, they were still waiting to hear about a build slot. It seems that the U.K. market still has capacity for the M60 model but BMW have removed the possibility for customers to purchase certain specs such as the launch spec M50 with Tech Plus and Comfort Plus packs plus 22” wheels. This position will become more unsustainable as competition enters this segment.

It is possible for people in the UK to pick up their orders from Deutschland if they wanted to, however this may not be ideal due to the cost involved. Some customers are opting to get a fully loaded iX M60 with B&W & +100HP instead, as it is much cheaper than a MY24 lease.

Overall, while there are delays in the build and delivery times of IX models in the UK market, customers can explore different options such as getting second hand cars or picking up their orders from Deutschland if they want to avoid long wait times.BMW should also consider increasing their production capacity in the UK to meet customer demand and reduce wait times.

In conclusion, it is clear that there are delays in the build and delivery times of IX models in the UK market. Customers can explore different options such as getting second hand cars or picking up their orders from Deutschland if they want to avoid long wait times. BMW should also consider increasing their production capacity in the UK to meet customer demand and reduce wait times for customers who have already placed an order.

I recently placed an order for an IX 40 on the 23/12 last year and got told today by the dealership they expect it could take another month for build slot and then they aren't sure when delivery would be. Has anyone else ordered one recently and got a rough timeline for delivery?

Many people have ordered the iX40 recently and have received their vehicles in about two months. Some dealers are more "in tune" with the factory than others, so it's possible that your dealer is not as up to date. It's also possible that something has changed with the factorys that is causing delays. Consider talking to another dealer or looking at second hand options.

I'm due to replace my current car in October so if it's going to be longer than that I'll have to look at my options.

If you need to replace your car in October, you may want to consider looking at second hand options or talking to another dealer. You can also look into other EVs such as the E-tron, Model Y, EQA/EQC, or even BMW's own fleet up for sale as hitting a year or so for them.
