Rivian has been working on its electric vehicles since 2009. The company recently announced that the MAX pack version of their vehicles won't start delivery until 2023, and they will contact customers to inquire if they want to downgrade to a Large pack and possibly take delivery in 2022. This is undoubtedly disappointing for those who have already pre-ordered the MAX pack version, as it means waiting two more years before getting the vehicle. Rivian has yet to get a 400 mile range MAX pack certified by the EPA which is why they can't sell it yet.
However, there are still some positives to look forward to. For instance, Rivian's stock price may drift down over the next 6-12 months due to slow ramp up, meaning investors might be able to make a good profit from buying now. Additionally, OTA updates could potentially extend the range of the vehicle once it is released.
