BWM iX Hitch Options: From Aftermarket Trailers to Stealth Hitches

As BMW iX owners, many of us are eagerly awaiting the release of an officially supported hitch for our vehicles. While there is no official news from BMW yet, some dealers have been able to quote and install aftermarket accessories such as 63 11 5 A64 D38 and 51 12 5 A31 8C2. These electrical trailer hitches can be used for bike racks or other toys, but not actual towing at this point.

Stealth hitches have been installed on 2022 BMW ix 50 models, however they require a larger cutout than the EcoHitch which requires a 3” x 3” hole. The Stealth hitch has the advantage of being removable when not in use, while the EcoHitch is static and will remain visible all the time.

It would be great if BMW released an official version that could be seamlessly integrated into the vehicle, but until then we must make do with what's available. Some owners may opt for the Stealth hitch, while others may prefer the EcoHitch. Ultimately it depends on individual preferences and needs.In the meantime, we can keep our eyes peeled for any official news from BMW regarding a hitch for the iX. It's likely that they are working on something and will release it in due course. Until then, we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

It is also worth noting that some owners have reported success with installing aftermarket hitches without any issues or problems. This could be an option if you don't want to wait for an official solution from BMW. However, this should only be done by experienced professionals who know how to properly install these accessories safely and securely.

Finally, there are other options available such as tow bars which allow you to attach your trailer directly onto the vehicle itself instead of using a hitch system. These may not provide as much flexibility as a traditional hitch setup but they do offer another way of getting around when needed!
