BMW iX40 Review: Reliable Electric Vehicle Exceeds Expectations

The BMW iX40 has exceeded expectations for many drivers, including GailO who recently purchased one. After a 3-hour test drive, GailO knew the iX was the perfect fit. With some adjustments to the tire pressure and longer trips, GailO achieved an impressive 3.5 miles per kwh efficiency rate, translating to a range of 249 miles despite having 22 inch rims. The adaptive regen feature is especially useful when approaching roundabouts or exiting off the motorway.
GailO's ETA in Halifax is 18:00 this evening and should have it in Toronto within 10 days or so. All the options GailO ordered made it into the vehicle, except for the Sport option which wasn't properly described on the configurator. The standard LED lights on the iX feel a bit basic and dim compared to other EVs. GailO opted for the non-sport look with Blue Ridge Mountain colour and 20" wheels with an acceptable look.
The correct tire inflation that GailO used was not delivered with the right psi from the dealer, as is often the case. However, 20" wheels now come black which looks more acceptable than before.
The BMW iX40 is an impressive EV that has exceeded expectations for many drivers. It offers great features such as adaptive regen and efficient performance, making it a great choice for those looking for a reliable electric vehicle. With its sleek design and impressive range, it's no wonder why so many people are choosing the iX40 as their next car.
The interior of the iX40 is also impressive, with its spacious cabin and intuitive infotainment system. The seats are comfortable and supportive, while the steering wheel feels great in the hands. The sound system is also top-notch, providing a great listening experience.
Overall, GailO is very pleased with their purchase of the BMW iX40. It has exceeded expectations in terms of performance, range, and features. With its sleek design and impressive range, it's no wonder why so many people are choosing the iX40 as their next car.

What is the iX40 like?
The iX40 has exceeded all expectations, particularly with regard to efficiency. With some short trips, the efficiency seemed to be rather bad, but after adjusting the tyre pressures and going on longer trips, it's way better. On a 7C (45F) day, with the climate on, car in efficiency mode, D with adaptive regen, driving mostly on motorway in heavy traffic (so closer to 60 rather than 70mph), it managed to get 3.5 miles per kwh, translating to a range of 249 miles despite having 22 inch rims.
Are there any downsides to the iX compared to other EVs?
The standard LED lights on the iX feel a bit basic and dim when compared to older models such as the 2015 MB C class that had intelligent LED lights. Even when compared to Audi e-tron lights, they are not as good. Additionally, some options listed on the BMW website are not available at this time due to chip shortage.
What is the Sport option for the iX?
The Sport option includes 21" wheels and a sportier look. However, many prefer the non-sport look and 20" wheels.
What tire pressure should I use for my iX?
It is recommended to adjust your tire pressure according to your driving conditions and needs. As a reality check, it is unlikely that your car will be delivered new or after service with the correct tire pressure from a dealer. For the iX, it is recommended to use a tire pressure of 32-34 psi for normal driving conditions.
What are some of the features that make the iX stand out?
The iX stands out from other EVs due to its impressive range, fast charging capabilities, and advanced technology. It has an impressive range of up to 249 miles on a single charge, and can be charged up to 80% in just 40 minutes with a 150kW charger. Additionally, it comes with BMW's latest driver assistance systems, such as Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Warning.
