A Rivian R1T Owner Shares Their Experience: Improving Performance, Range Anxiety, and User Interface

The Rivian R1T is a revolutionary electric truck that has been making waves in the automotive industry. It's one of the first all-electric pickups and comes with some impressive features, such as an advanced user interface (UI), range anxiety reduction, and improved performance. Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with an owner who recently took delivery of their R1T.
The owner shared their experience with us, starting off by mentioning some gripes about the UI. They said it can be slow to load when you first get in the truck and navigation is just okay – fine for getting from point A to B but not great if you're trying to optimize for traffic. The owner also mentioned that trip/charge planning works better on your phone than in the vehicle itself.
When asked about range anxiety, charging, and performance, the owner reported having no issues during a recent trip from South Bay to Tahoe and back. They stopped twice along the way for charging at EA stations in Rocklin and Truckee before heading up to Bridgeport and then Mammoth. On the return journey they stopped again at Bridgeport and Folsom before arriving back home in San Jose.
The owner also commented on how they were expecting more hands-free driving capabilities like those offered by Ford and GM, but found out that wasn't currently available on the R1T. They compared it to Tesla's Autopilot system which had nag alerts that would come up even when they kept their hands on the wheel while driving.
Overall, this owner was very pleased with their purchase of the Rivian R1T and enjoyed its features despite a few minor issues. With Rivian's commitment to continual improvement, these issues should be resolved soon enough so owners can have an even better experience behind the wheel.
