134% Growth of Volvo Recharge Models in January 2022: Electrification & Customer Experience Pays Off

Volvo USA reports Recharge sales up 134% in January
Volvo Car USA reported 7,110 cars sold in January 2022, with the brand’s Recharge models closing out the month up 134 percent over the same period last year. Recharge models – cars with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain – represented 26.8 percent of total sales nationwide and 63.5 percent of total sales in California. The Volvo Car Americas region reported 8,808 cars sold for the month.
The impressive growth of Recharge models is attributed to Volvo’s commitment to electrification and its focus on sustainability. Volvo has set a goal to become climate neutral by 2040 and plans to have 50 percent of its global sales be fully electric vehicles by 2025. To support this goal, Volvo has launched several new Recharge models, including the XC40 Recharge P8 AWD SUV and S60 Recharge T8 AWD sedan.
The XC40 Recharge P8 AWD SUV is powered by two electric motors that generate a combined 402 horsepower and 486 lb-ft of torque. It features an all-wheel drive system and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The S60 Recharge T8 AWD sedan is powered by a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor for a total output of 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque. It also features an all-wheel drive system and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds.
Both vehicles offer a range of up to 250 miles on a single charge, making them ideal for long trips or daily commutes. They also feature advanced safety systems such as Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving technology, which helps keep drivers centered in their lane and at a safe distance from other vehicles on the road.
In addition to its commitment to electrification, Volvo has also invested heavily in its customer experience initiatives, such as its Care by Volvo subscription service and its digital retail platform, which allow customers to purchase or lease their vehicle online without ever having to step foot inside a dealership. This focus on customer experience has helped Volvo stand out from the competition and has contributed to the success of its Recharge models.
Overall, Volvo’s commitment to electrification and customer experience initiatives have paid off, resulting in impressive growth for its Recharge models in January 2022. With more new Recharge models coming soon and continued investment in customer experience initiatives, Volvo looks poised to continue its success into the future.
